Pray It! Loving God, draw us into your life as we pray:
For the Church, that she may always honor and worship the great treasure of Jesus Christ present in the Eucharist, we pray: Living Bread of Life, hear our prayer. Through the compassionate efforts of individuals and nations, may world hunger be eliminated, we pray: Living Bread of Life, hear our prayer. For all the homeless and those who go without food that they may receive the material and spiritual nourishment they need, we pray: Living Bread of Life, hear our prayer. For all those in our parish who bring the Eucharist to the sick and dying, we pray: Living Bread of Life, hear our prayer. Draw us, O Father. Open our hearts to listen, so that, receptive to your word, you may instruct us in the riches, depth and mystery of your love. O Triune God, draw us into your life of union, you who live and reign together as one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus. AMEN.
Read It! Bread was the basic food in Jesus' day, and Jesus used bread as a way to teach people about who he was. People are not just hungry for food: they are also hungry for If people will believe in Jesus and follow him, they will never be spiritually hungry or thirsty again. How can this happen? One way is by staying close to Christ through partaking in the Eucharist. The Bread of Life is present to us in the Eucharist, feeding Christ's people. He is our food for the journey.
